What we are looking for

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist reports to the Assistant Controller or their designate and is responsible for administering and overseeing the company’s incoming payments, ensuring that all invoices are processed, payments are received, and accounts are maintained accurately. This role maintains the cash flow by ensuring timely payments, resolving discrepancies, managing trades and deductions, accurate booking and approval, and maintaining customer relationships.

What you will be doing

  • Create and maintain Customer master data in Sage based on Sales requirements.

  • Support the creation of processes, reports and monitoring of AR process and Trade deductions.

  • Process payments from customers from different methods in Sage.

  • Review bank accounts for collection, reconciling those with remittances and booking the collection in Sage in the Customer open item, and creating bank reconciliation in Sage.

  • Investigating payment discrepancies.

  • Monitor promotions and control deductions, applying correct bookings when receiving payments.

  • Responsible for Trade accruals based on a Promotion calendar.

  • Responsible of AR reconciliation, ageing control reports, and responding to business questions on Deductions accruals and Promotions booked in Sage.

  • Communicating with customers for delayed collections and deduction claims.

  • Responsible of Bank reconciliation.

  • Responsible for monitoring Brokers, booking and management of commissions in Sage, and communication with the Sales team.

  • Back up of AP Specialist when and where required.

  • Communicating with Sales about Promotions and approvals on extraordinary deductions.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in Accounts Receivable.

  • Experience working with SAGE X3.

  • Background in Accounting and Trade, with experience in food service.

  • Must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and good attention to detail.

  • Intermediate to advanced level experience in Microsoft Excel.

  • Great communication and detail oriented.

  • Reliable and resourceful.

The Creative Director will report to the Chief Marketing Officer or their designate and will play a key role in creating and leading all creative projects at GoodLeaf Farms, ensuring that our brand identity is reflected consistently across all visual assets. What you will be doing

Creative Leadership and Brand Strategy

  • Lead the creative vision for all marketing and branding initiatives, ensuring consistency and alignment with GoodLeaf Farms’ values and objectives.

  • Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions and team meetings, providing marketing insights and creative solutions that support team goals.

  • Direct the creative team in generating innovative ideas and concepts for various marketing assets.

What we are looking for

The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for the development and use of analysis, measurement, and quality tools to ensure quality in all facets of the farm.  This role will be a leader in building food safety culture and a key player in our commitment to producing safe, quality food.

What you will be doing

Quality Management System: Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.

Food Safety Management Programs: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Food Safety Management Programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., SQF, HACCP, CFIA). Review and verify HACCP and SCARF documentation including CCP monitoring records, production records, shipping and receiving records, sanitation records, pre-shipment records.

Leadership: Lead and manage the QA technicians, provide guidance, coach and support to ensure effective deliverables of the team. Act as a member of the farm leadership team.

Continuous Improvement: Develop and lead continuous improvement initiatives in food safety, ensuring the highest standards of product quality and safety are met. Actively participate in the identification of gaps in our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work in collaboration with the operations team & human resources to build and implement as needed.

Quality Control: Oversee the quality control process, including inspection and testing procedures, ensuring products meet established specifications and standards. Complete trending and analysis of shelf life, KPIs & GMPs. Collect samples for micro analysis for all products produced during the shift. Perform pre-operational inspections on production lines. 

Food Safety Incident Management: Investigate food safety incidents, including product recalls, contamination, or safety breaches. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes and minimize risk. Monitor and recognize food safety issues and follow through Hold and Release program as it applies to raw materials and/or finished products. Perform food safety assessments as required. 

Audits and Inspections: Conduct internal audits of food safety practices to identify areas of improvement, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and quality standards. Address any non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions. Lead and participate in SQF annual audit.

Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment: Lead the implementation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles and risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and control food safety hazards. Analysis and interpretation of microbiological testing and follow-up actions relating to food safety.  Assist in HACCP reassessment activities including but not limited to verification and validation of CCP’s, labels, and pre-requisite programs. 

Regulatory Compliance: Follows and comply with all GoodLeaf Farms, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Provincial and Company Health and Safety standards and Company Safe Quality Foods standards and guidelines. Ensure that all food safety policies and practices are in full compliance with local, provincial, and federal food safety regulations and standards and industry standards, regulations, and certifications (CFIA, etc.), ensuring the organization’s products and services meet these requirements.

Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to team members on quality and food safety standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a quality-driven culture throughout the organization.  Ensure that all employees are well-informed and adhere to food safety policies. 

Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain quality reports, documentation, and records. Provide regular updates on quality and food safety performance metrics to senior management. Maintain detailed records of food safety audits, inspections, training sessions, corrective actions, and compliance reports.

Customer Feedback and Issue Resolution: Manage customer complaints related to product quality, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to resolve issues effectively.

Supplier Quality Management: Evaluate and monitor supplier performance, ensuring that raw materials and components meet quality and food safety standards and specifications. Perform incoming raw materials testing and finished product testing. Testing knowledge includes pH, titration, micro sampling, temperature measurements, etc.

Laboratory operations: Oversee and manage lab operations and ensure adherence to safety protocol. Conduct microbiological and pathogenic testing of leafy greens. Ensure accurate testing, analyze results and recommend improvements. Maintain lab equipment and consumables including purchasing necessary equipment, taking inventory, timely calibrations and servicing.

All other duties as assigned

Must have’s

  • Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, or related field of study. 

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in food safety or quality assurance roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.

  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., HACCP, CFIAI).

  • Certification in HACCP required.

  • Experience with the proper and safe handling of pathogens. 

  • Working knowledge of various analytical instruments. 

  • Active SQF certification. 

  • QA or QC experience in food manufacturing considered an asset. 

  • Experience in operating MDS and HACCP/Food Safety training is considered an asset. 

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential risks and resolve issues proactively.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to lead training sessions, collaborate across teams, and interact with regulatory bodies.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and maintain positive business relationships, natural leadership abilities

What we are looking for

Reporting to the President & CEO, the VP, Horticulture Development, Innovation & Quality is responsible for leading GoodLeaf’s horticultural excellence (ie. plant productivity and plant quality) and food safety across all GoodLeaf locations.  This role is responsible for strategic direction, growth and development of the horticulture function and provides visionary leadership for GoodLeaf Farms’ horticulture operations, including developing key strategies for maximizing plant biomass yield in indoor farming environments, adapting new plants for indoor cultivation, and establishing viable next generation business opportunities.

This role will lead the development of key performance indicators and analytical tools for consistent, repeatable horticultural best practices, maximizing harvestable yield, producing great quality product, maintaining the highest food safety practices, and reducing cost of goods. The individual will work closely with other leaders to design, set up and ensure operational success of new farms.

What you will be doing

1.     Horticultural Strategy and Development:

  • Develop and execute the horticultural strategy to support the company's growth objectives, ensuring alignment with industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Drive innovation in horticulture techniques in a controlled environment in terms of, automation, lighting, nutrient management, and crop selection to maximize yield, quality, and sustainability.

  • Identify and evaluate new horticultural technologies, equipment, and partnerships that enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality.

2.     Cultivation and Production Management:

  • Oversee the cultivation process in vertical farms, ensuring optimal growth conditions, crop health, and resource utilization.

  • Collaborate with the operations team to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for planting, harvesting, irrigation, pest management, and disease control.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track crop performance, yield, and production costs, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

3.     Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Develop and implement robust quality assurance programs and protocols in accordance with SQF guidelines to maintain product safety and integrity.

  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards throughout the entire production cycle, from seed to harvest, including post-harvest handling and storage.

  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, auditors, and certification bodies to ensure compliance with industry regulations and certifications.

4.     Research and Development:

  • Lead research and development initiatives to identify and introduce new plant varieties, improve crop characteristics, and optimize growing practices.

  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in horticulture, vertical farming, and sustainable agriculture.

  • Foster partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry experts to drive innovation and knowledge exchange.

5.     Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Build and lead a high-performing Horticulture team and Quality team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

Must have’s

  • 10+ years' experience in commercial fruit and vegetable agricultural operations in senior roles in horticulture, and agronomy.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related field.  A Ph.D. is a plus.

  • 5+ years' experience with various hydroponic systems.

  • 5+ years' experience with controlled environment agriculture operations in a senior role leading design, improvements, and operational success of these operations.

  • Experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs, preferably under SQF guidelines or similar food safety standards.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to horticulture, agricultural practices, and food manufacturing.

  • Must be able and willing to travel across national and international borders.

  • Must have a strong business acumen.

  • Must have successfully led collaborative and high performing teams.
